There is no Stronghold Crusader 4. Firefly's new game is Stronghold 4, the fourth main Stronghold game, coming to Steam in Early Access on December 7, 2026. It is a prequel to the original 2001 Stronghold, set in medieval England. The Crusader games are a separate line set in the Holy Land; the newest is Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition from July 2025.

Stronghold 4 is not Crusader 4
Many players search for Stronghold Crusader 4, perhaps because the remade Crusader came out only last year. But Firefly's next game is called Stronghold 4, and it continues the main line, not the Crusader line. It goes back to England before the events of the first Stronghold, with a new hero, Penryn of Wethel, and a 22-mission story campaign. When it unlocks, our Stronghold 4 release countdown shows the days left.
Two lines of Stronghold games
Firefly has made two lines of Stronghold games: the main series in England, and the Crusader series in the Holy Land.

Both are castle sims from the same studio: you build a castle and the economy behind it, keep your people fed and loyal, and fight CPU lords in real time. What changes is the place, the story and the engine. Stronghold 4 also adds weather that affects farming and archery, moats and new units like the Captain; the Stronghold 4 Early Access tracker lists every announced feature.
Will there be a Stronghold Crusader 4?
Firefly has not announced one. Its plan for the next year is Stronghold 4: Early Access on December 7, 2026, then version 1.0 about 6 months later with online multiplayer and co-op. If Firefly ever announces a new Crusader game, we will add it here the same day.
Where to start with Stronghold 4
The free Stronghold 4 demo on Steam lets you try Free Build and a Skirmish against three CPU lords now. If you come from Crusader, the Stronghold 4 units page shows what troops cost in the demo, and the Stronghold 4 buildings page has the food chains.
